Since my return from Egypt (Misr), I’ve been quite busy. Hence, the long delay in my letter. I first wanted to thank you for helping to make this trip a reality. When I began contacting travel agents and tour companies for help with the trip I was quickly disappointed. Time and time again, people dropped the ball. However, you were professional from start to finish and handled a short planning calendar with great efficiency. So, thank you. Cairo, Luxor and Alexandria were all wonderful. I did not know what to expect when the airplane doors opened. That uncertainty was one of the main reasons I wanted to visit Misr. It is also why the tour guides you provided were such a welcome addition to the trip. The Tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and had strong English skills to make up for my exceedingly weak Arabic. The history of Misr is astonishing and is understandably a focal point of any trip to the country. However, the life of Misr today is just as important as it was 4,000 years ago. With that in mind, it would have been nice to have gotten a better sense of modern-day Misr. The chance to visit neighborhoods, shops, schools, ports, ordinary mosques and churches, sporting events and other recreational activities would have greatly enhanced the experience. Maybe most of your clients are not interested in these things, but my travel partner and I were very interested. Our suggestion is that the Emeco (or any other service you might use) guides offer modern-day, real-life experiences during the blocks of free time in the afternoons and nights. Our guide in Cairo did take us to parts of the bazaar that seemed to be away from the tourist area—that was good. More of that would have been great. In any case, as I said from the outset, the trip was spectacular. Thank you very much for your top-notch arrangements.
